Sophia Poh

Ms. Sophia Poh is the Vice-President of Singapore Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (SIPMM), responsible for developing and managing industry engagements. She leads a research team that is responsible for market research and economic forecasts of the manufacturing sectors, and specifically the electronics industry. The research encompasses operational areas in logistics and procurement, and more importantly uncovering developments and constraints of manufacturing supply chains. Research indicators comprise new orders, new exports, factory output, inventory, imports, input prices, finished goods, manufacturing employment, supplier deliveries and order backlog. The research output also includes monthly macroeconomic commentary.

Sophia is a qualified member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), as well as a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Australia. She has been an active participant in conferences and workshops organized by the accountancy body. Her research and analysis culminate to the monthly reporting of the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), which has been extensively quoted and published by a wide range of local and international media, as well as broadcasting media of television and the radio both locally and globally.

Under her resourceful leadership and professional dedication, research capabilities at SIPMM have been greatly enhanced for its members. The research results have been highly ranked in surveys for manufacturing index research, electronic index research, market coverage and Asian macroeconomic research in a wide variety of forums, which include Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and many global media agencies.

Prior to joining SIPMM in January 2018, Sophia was managing the professional development of members at the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA). She is a former auditor at PwC Singapore, as well as Deloitte & Touche LLP. She received her Bachelor degree with Honours at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University of London.
